Lisboa, where the final match of Euro 2004 took place, has as a well-known ex-libris some historic, narrow streets quarters, like Alfama, near the S. Jorge Castle. But this beautiful town has other and many interesting places to visit like the Sé (Cathedral) roman-gothic, the Convent of Carmo, the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, the Torre de Belém, S. Jorge Castle, as well as countless Churches and Palaces.
The Rio Tejo is part of the town and, from some time now, its banks have been a centre of “Lisbon by night”, with its restaurants and bars. One of these areas, in the west part of town – Docas – the other in the east – Parque das Nações – which reminds us of the Expo’98 the world exhibition that brought to Lisbon 10 millions of visitors coming from all over the world.
Many things within Parque das Nações are worth a visit - a walk through the Gardens Garcia da Orta, a tour on the teleferic, the Torre Vasco da Gama (temporarily unavailable on account of construction of an hotel), the Pavilhão do Conhecimento and the Oceanário, one of the largest and most beautiful in the World.
